Our First Days With Clara Mae

Our first two weeks with Clara have been wonderful as we get to know her and adjust to having her as part of our family.  She reminds us a lot of Lydia when she was born with dark hair and a dark complexion.  In general she seems to be a content baby, but does have a few tummy issues around feeding time.  We're hoping that gets better soon!  Lydia seems to be adjusting fairly well to having a little sister.  She likes to pat Clara a lot on her leg, back, tummy or head... whatever is easiest to reach at the time!  I'm excited to see these two little girls grow up together :)

Our garden is pretty much done producing, at least from what I can tell from the kitchen window :)  We had a bumper crop of squash and pumpkins, which is being put in the freezer for use this winter as baby food and in recipes.  Anybody who comes to our house is not allowed to leave without taking some squash home.  I even got the delivery man to take a few home!

We enjoyed having my mom with us for a week to help out at home when Clara was born.  If you can think of a job in the house she did it: cooking, laundry, dishes, dusting, mopping, changing diapers, burping Clara and feeding Lydia.  What a treat!  Dan's family came to visit this past weekend to meet Clara and to celebrate Dave and Julie's 50th birthdays.  It was great to all be together!  Now it's just our little family at home, which is taking some adjustment, but we wouldn't trade it for anything!

What did we get ourselves into...

Getting braver!
