Our little household continues to enjoy the summer season and the activities that go along with it. Dan has been making steady progress on our dresser for the bedroom, and I've been doing a little more sewing lately. We also spent a Saturday morning making 3 batches of strawberry jam!
Lydia's dynamic personality continues to amuse us and keep us on our toes! She has a lot of spunk and spirit which brings plenty of excitement to our family life. Here are some of her new words.
"choppies" - strawberries
"Watch out!" - don't know where she learned that!
"Don't do dat!" - speaking to herself
"Don't touch!" - speaking to Clara
"Matter Caywa?" - What's the matter Clara?
On June 18 Lydia turned two years old! It fell on a Saturday this year, so it was fun to have Dan home for the day. Many of you have heard about our pool woes on her birthday. To sum it up, we brought Clara to Oma's house and took Lydia to Pella's water park as a special birthday treat. I'm not sure any child has ever cried so much on their birthday :( She was totally overwhelmed by the crowds, the spraying water and the big slides. During snack time she stopped crying because I gave her "nu nacks" (fruit snacks) -her favorite! Also, she giggled when Dan went off the diving board. So I guess she didn't cry the whole time... But it definitely did not go as planned.
Clara's sweet smiles continue to light up our days. Her warm and engaging personality brings us so much delight! She is crawling all over now, so I really have to keep an eye on her. Lydia also keeps an eye on Clara to make sure she doesn't get too close to her toys and puzzles!
